should i be worried

by jay007, Aug 29, 2006 12:00AM
i have a small pea sized lump on the back of my neck in the center of my neck about an inch and a half below my hairline. ive had this lump for over 10 years. it is small non growing and hard, i remember when i was a about 17 when it first appeared and i popped it, white smelly stuff came out but since it has gotten hard, its still the same size. my question is, if you have a small hard lump that does not grow, can it be cancer.

I had this when I was 16 years old, and it was just a swollen lymphnode. I think that maybe what you have. I'd consult a doctor to see if you need to get it drained. If that's the case, it's totally harmless.

its not a lymph node, lymph nodes are on the sides, my lump is in the center on the back of my nck just above the spine. a lymph node will not be swollen for more than 10 years, this is a small pea sized harl lump that once was soft, i squeezed out the white stuff about 10 years ago, and it is hard and the same size ever since.
