by verad56, Mar 07, 2006 12:00AM
My husband just had stomach cancer surgery to remove a tumor. I t was positive for cancer and the doctor saw a lot of lymph nodes and we were told today that they were positive. Now where do we go from here? M yhusband was just discharged from the hospital today and the only medicine they gave him was pepsid and a pain medicine. shouldnt he have more than that?
The tumor in his stomach had blocked his intestines and the surgeon had to remove most of his stomach.
We really want to know what is going on . we are a poor black family ad I was wondering if there is more that we can do? he has medicare part b only and medicine is not covered.
he has to have chemotherapy and radiation treatments, i think that we should not have had the surgey since he was going to have the chemo anywhay.
thanks for any info. you can give us on this. My husband acts like he is fine and he is not worring about too much and I am doing all the worring.

Wow, you have your plate full.  Is your husband seeing an oncologist?  First you need to find out what stage it's in, what type of cancer cell you're dealing with, and come up with a prognosis and plan to deal with this.  Medicare plan D, now covers drug prescriptions, but I don't know about chemo and radiation.  I would ask the doc a lot of questions, and call Medicare to see what options you have.  Take care.
