testicular atrophy

by gmart0145, May 28, 2007 12:00AM
I had inguinal hernia surgury in July 2006.  Due to residual pain and swelling, I saw a urologist who told me that my right testicle is no longer functional (same side as hernia repair).  The urologist ordered a semen analysis which was normal and a blood test to check my testerone level.  My testerone level is now low so I have an appointment for a follow up (I say now because my wife and I were seeing a fertility dr. so I had these two tests done before the surgury and they were normal).  Few questions: 1- what are the long term effects of low testerone?  2- My urologist said the testicle can be removen in six months or so if the pain persists.  If the pain subsides and it's not removed is there an increased risk of testicular cancer?

you should look up hcg and talk to your dr it could help.i would get a second opinon about your testicul being dead .what kind of test did you have done for that?i told a urioglist that i had pain i one of my testiculs and he could not find any thing wrong with it but he told me that if the pain did'nt go away that he could remove it .that did not sound like a good idea  to me.i think that thay have to do a biopsie to tell if its dead.421
