unknown genital skin growth

I have a unknown skin growth on the underside base of my penis.  I am worried that it might be a tumor or cancer.  I have not yet seen a doctor being that, to my knowledge, it has only been present for a few days.  It is red mixed with skin color with an almost glossy surface.  Perhaps a gland of some kind.  It is about the size of a allergy hive.  It is not a genital wart. I fear the worst and know that any confirmation of cancer would destroy my self-confidence.  Just looking for another opinion.  Any ideas or treatment suggestions?
(Tumors and cancer are not common traits amongst my family. We mostly die of strokes and heart related ordeals.)
