A whole lot of problems ...Is it worth the living?

by Grieco01, Sep 12, 2006 12:00AM
Hello my name is Anthony Im 19,

I been in a history of Bipolar Disorder got most of them fixed back in the years, But there's a problem I got no job - no health insurance, no dental coverage, still live with my parents with 6 other sibilings it is killing me.

In my recent years as a child I never really taken care of my body mostly because my mother & father never forced me to, I wish they had. Im getting even more depressed ever than before but I refuse to show it to any one. Im sure Im sick of some kind of bactirea of some sort in my mouth thats maken me sick as in digestive problems that cause me to have diahreia, this started to happen 9 months ago.

My teeth are rotting away my upper arch all have big hole's in them & Im missing 2 molars & have a cracked tooth , 1 smaller tooth growing out of my molar. The lower arch has a few holes under a few molars. It's horrible to look at thats why I never really smile I know my teeth are making me sick I try brushing them but can't cause they hurt an I bleed alot an I couldn't go to a dentist with out knocking one out cause my mouth is to sensitve I have to be put to sleep to keep from anything.

So anyhow Im also alergic (allergic) to somthing not sure of I break out in hive's I look like the Thing from fantastic 4 . I believe its my stress & sweat.

I shake alot reasons unknowned, I have heat flashes, headache's in an out of sleep, Im losing vision off/on at times (im half blind in one eye), I have chest pains (I do smoke cigerattes), I have short of breath at times, My feet are always cold but sweat alot, I have these weird long bumps under my arms not sure what they are but they hurt.

I Haven't had a relationship for 2 years for some reason probley the fact that Im afraid what I have they might get.

My Sleep pattern is all blanked up sometimes I do not sleep for 3 days stright.

I was on Medications back in the day but I keep getting sysmthoms from each med I was taking so I got over medicated an I stopped that.

I do not eat alot like I use to, Mood swings are to aggresive (aggressive), I have out bursts of rage at times. Im not sure what I can do I can't work with out having to use the bathroom every half hour.

I want to have a life but I don't know what I can do.

Im not trying to say Im going to commit suicide but thats how I feel to end this BS thats happen to me.

My father keeps open his mouth its all in your head well he dosn't know that he's not in my body to feel what Iam.

Im tired pissed, Is there anything I can do?

Is it worth living for?

I've ask these questions before to close friends but they do not know what they talk about.

I do not have the money to afford medical attention these days to expensive.

So please if your a Doctor or a better resource of help can you tell me whats the best thing to do?

Thanks

Anthony-

Anthony, what you need now is someone to talk all of this through in order to create a plan to get through all of these symptoms, get a job, etc... You don't have any money but that does not mean you can't get real help.  There are many services in every community.  You might start with the suicide hotline and see if they can recommend a social worker or psychologist who is paid by the state or the county or a community mental health center.  Or you could apply to your nearest medical school for this kind of help.  In any case, you have to find someone, and that's what you should focus on.  You are young and not yet launched into life, but when you get through this awkward period, you'll see the light, and a long good life ahead. Remember though, it's you who can and has to make it work by solving all the problems and working them through. The more you take charge, the better you will feel.

I think you should go to the DR ASAP, these medical problems including dental are only going to get worse unless you get them treated. I understand you have no ins., but w/ all this affecting your daily lifestyle you should still seek a DR's examination. Call around & ask how fast you have to pay medical bills in full, many places allow monthes as long as you pay them here & there. I think this comes before getting a job b/c like you mentioned you need something to help your tum out so you are not running for the bathroom so often. You said you smoked if theres no other sourse of income I'd trade my smokes off & use that $ for some good tum medicine to get you on the right track

stomach & tooth pain are so horrible so please check around for a clinic that will work with you, I live in the south & a DR visit out of pocket is usually $75-$100 but the medicine is what is usually sooo high so talk w/ the clinics & try to put more $ on the meds b/c I don't know of a pharm. that will allow you to make payments but a Dr office should you just have to search, if all else fails just go down the yellow pages.

Once you get a few of these pro. solved you may be surprised at how much alot of it goes away due to lack of stress especially the skin irr. Don't feel like you have too many problems we all have pro. it's just that yours at the moment involves pain which lots of times makes us not have clear focus on the future. So please get your tummy & teeth taken care of. LIke you said when you were younger you didn't take care of yourself but now you are old enough to take great care of yourself so good luck on finding a clinic that will get you on the right track, bc the sooner you get things moving in the right direction the sooner you can get a job. It will all fall into place you just have to make the first move. ********We all are here for a vey special reason  this includes you & no one on this earth can ever do what you are here for so don't ever think you'll be helping by ending it all bc your time is not up & theres so many things that only you were created to do. One day you may be able to talk to people going thru this same sit. & help them out by telling your story of where you were & where you've come to be. LOVE & PRAYERS

Once you're able to, you should try to get a job with health and dental coverage or buy your own individual policy (which isn't too expensive) so you can take care of your medical and dental issues. Then start saving up for your own place asap. Living at home is probably making a lot of your problems worse.

I realize you are 19 and old enough to be responsible for yourself in many areas of your life; but if you are sick and you need medical attention (including dental health care) then I think your parents should be taking care of that until you are able to. You NEED to see a Dr. soon. Do you belong to a Church? Our church has a special fund for sending people to the doctor, paying for perscriptions and sending kids to the christian day school; so if you belong to a church maybe you could ask and see if they offer that kind of help.

If you can't do that, then I would go to the hospital or clinic within the hospital and get some attention that way. You won't have to pay anything upfront and you can get down to the bottom of some of these health issues (they won't turn you away, you will get to talk to a doctor and they will help you, treat you and point you in the right direction for *aftercare*) I feel sorry for you because you are only 19 years old and I have 3 teenage sons who will be in college when they are your age and my husband and I are fully prepared to pay for their college, health and dental care as long as we need to in order to give them the best start in life possible. Does your Mom know that you are sick? Talk to your Mom. Does your Mom know you need to see a dentist? I can't imagine she would sit by and watch you suffer; tell her everything. And if know one will listen, then go to the hospital; they will listen to you there.
xx

You might check with your county health department about places you might get free care, and also, you might be eligible for a Medicaid health plan that would allow you to have free or almost free care.

When you do get to see a doctor, make sure to mention the dental problems as well as your stomach problems. One possibility that occurs to me is a condition called celiac disease. It is a digestive disease that causes malabsorption (and therefore chronic diarrhea), but it can also cause very severe effects on the teeth. In some people, the malabsorption from the disease prevents them from absorbing calcium and other nutrients properly, and therefore they do not develop proper tooth enamel, leading to a lot of dental problems. Strangely enough, celiac disease can also cause psychiatric problems in a small minority of people, and they do go away after the disease is treated. By the way, celiac disease is particularly common in people of Irish or Italian descent, if that happens to apply to you, but it can occur in anyone.

Of course, there are many other possibilities (including other digestive diseases), and the G.I. problems and the teeth problems are not necessarily related. Good luck, and I hope you feel better soon.

Many hospitals have charity care or financial assistance programs for people who are below a certain income level. Since you're not working, you might qualify for free care.

To: gr please hurry
I was just wondering if you had to get your wisdom teeth pulled or cut out? If so maybe that Oral Surg. could take a look at your teeth. If they are rotting w/ holes they'll have to be pulled, I had to get my back molar pulled so I went back to the Oral SUrg. instead of the dentist, for one tooth being pulled & the laughing gas it cost around $130. I don't know how many teeth you are talking about but surely there is an Oral Surg. or a local dentist that would let you work w/ them on the payments. You could start by getting em pulled & then move onto getting a job w/ dental ins & let the ins help cover any bridges or any other high costing extra cosmetic work. I hope you find somewhere soon. This is probably one of the main reasons you are having tum (I know I could be wrong)troubles plus when teeth hurt we don't wanna eat b/c it hurts or we only eat very soft things at room temp so please go see someone that can help.

Just had a thought

Hey I'm sorry I can't remember if you were the youngest of the kids but does your dad have ALL KIDS? It's kinda like medicaid but it takes care of childrens medical, eyes,& dental. It goes by the # in the household & income, I think it starts from birth to the age of 19yrs so please hurry before you turn 20 & call your local health department soon & ask about All Kids, it takes about 4-6wks to be approved but that could really help out if you can get it, I live in the south & know many people who have it & love it. You only pay a small amt for meds like $5-$15 & only a one time $100 a yr fee or a $50 yr fee depending on the income. I hope & pray you can get on this, this would let you get your foot in the door at theDr off & the dentist off. Our health dept has the forms at there office to fill out & mail off! LOVE & PRAYERS

Well I got my wisdom teeth cut out while I was put to sleep.

I have 26 bad teeth top - bottom arches.

I was on my fathers Blue sheild coverage but it ran out beginning of 2006 once I turned 19 it ended.

---
Well everything I eat gose right through me like drinking water ...

I use to weigh 226 now I weigh 172 that was the fact that I was using up my bodies water supply ... so as of right now I eat 1 meal a day & drink alot of water .. but dosn't seem to work out as well as I hoped.

& I checked around my area & surroundings an the only free clinic is for women pregnate program & sexual info. lol

Im a Italian ... just to throw that out to you all.

I was looking into dentures back in the day or bolt teeth but they are both to expensive. I know I can go get another x-ray/check up for about $195.00 but thats not going to help much.

an that dentistry won't allow me back for the fact I knocked the surgen out lol... I didn't mean to but the novicane ran out.

I know what you mean about so many clinics being for women & pg women. ALthough I'm a pg woman myself but it's not fair for the guys:( Even people in jail get good benefits It's so sad that our system is set up the way it is.  I know you could get cheaper ins being a single male (for yourself) but there goes the pre existing stuff so that still puts you off another year.
We have a free clinic for people w/ no ins it's called The Good Samaritain (SP) but you have to be put on a waiting list. Maybe the DR will post up some good info.

if you can get ALL KIDS where you live, all your dad would have to do is drop you off the ins & fill out he paper work for the ALL KIDS program, but since you are no longer covered by it I don't see what the problem would be unless his income is too much or if u are fixing to turn 20. The main thing is the income amt & your age & you not being covered by another ins. Where I live those are the requirements, do you know if they have ALL KIDS where you live?

You didn't say what city you live in in MA, but I live in the midwest in a relatively small city compared to many in MA, and there are two agencies that offer both medical and dental services based on income.  I'm currently a full-time adult student and live off my student loan checks, so my income is very limited.  I go to a county agency for all of my medical needs and pay $15 per office visit, with most medications running around $5 from the clinic pharmacy.  I even had an operation recently that was almost totally paid for through a city agency.  There HAS to be free or almost free help out there for you.  As another poster said, call your city or county human service agencies for help.

It sounds like you're experiencing significant depression, which is very understandable, but please don't give up and stop looking for help.  It's out there, I'm sure.  I also agree with the other poster who said that, once your medical problems are taken care of, you'll see life in a different light....unfortunately when we feel so horrible physically and emotionally, life sucks.  But it won't always suck....please trust us on that.  It may take awhile to resolve all your problems, but please know that life can be wonderful, and will be at some point for you.

Please keep us updated and know we care.

just go to the hosp..tell them your tummy stuff and teeth, they will pull them there and you will get bills in the mail, by law as long as you pay 20 a month they cant do anything..worse case. my brother had some medical setbacks no insurance and got the stuff done and filed for bankruptcy..

you should though get state aide..another option..go the the hosp..get admitted into the psych ward, then a social worker will help you get things rolling..tell them your suicidal or something

by Grieco01, Sep 14, 2006 12:00AM
I been to an ER before I didn't get checked for 8 hrs ...

Im not going back to say Im nuts & want to kill my self just for some attention ..Plus they still bill you lol...

Greico, I live in NH and they are the worst state for medical help. I go to a Doc in Ma. I have no insurance. I went to my appointment today and I paid 30 dollers for my appointment. Mass is a pretty good state for help. I applied for free care at a Mass Hospital that my Doc practices at and my husband and I get free care and he makes 60 thousand a year. So what does that tell you. There is help. You sound negative at everything anyone is advising you on. You can go to the hospital and they have to give you care. IT'S THE LAW. Most Doc are good about no insurance. You can call around and tell the Doctor offices your problem and they will discount you and bill you. You pay when you can. Thats what I have to do. I have panic attacks. My Doc today gave me 5 meds to call around to see what was affordable for me. I found one for 13 dollers A month, the rest of them were 80 dollers and up. Doctors will work with you. If all fails you just don't pay them. Give them 5 dollers a month to show effort they can not say nothing to that. You go to the ER they have to help you and there are folks in there that can help you financially. So no excuse!!! If you are really as sick as you say you are then do what you need to do.
