MY DOCTOR SAYS THIS NEW DRUG BY NOVARTIS IS BEING HELD UP IN FDA APPROVAL.  CAN YOU TELL ME ABOUT IT?  ALSO, DO YOU HAVE ANY INFO AS TO WHEN IT MAY BE AVAILABLE?  OR, ARE THERE ANY WAYS TO OBTAIN IT ELSEWHERE WHERE IT IS AVAILABLE FOR PUBLIC USE.

THANK YOU

Dear Lola

Rivastigmine at a dose of 6 to 12 mg /day was reported to be effective in selected clinical trials. The common adverse effects associated with its use are nausea, vomiting, dizziness, fatigue, urinary incontinence etc. Side effects are reported to be usually mild to moderate, of short duration and respond to lowering  the dose.
