Borderline Personality Disorder

by maxwell, Aug 23, 1999 12:00AM
I have was diagnosed with this over a year ago by a very well qualified psycotherapist. My Condition is presently held stable by medication: Prozac,
               Diazipam,
Culpermin (peppermint oil to sooth symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome, a condition brought on by stress)
Plus 2 other sedatives for the stomach/nervous system,a nd the other for sleeping.
I'm tired of taking so many pills, first it was just prozac, now it's all the others, i'm not in favour of drugs, and i'm anxious to stop. I'm on a degree course and it's too much to find the money to support and undoubtedly expensive treatment as will be needed for this. I'm english, so can you suggest to me anything that might help,  centres, specialists, anything. I'm in Japan on holiday, and will shortly be leaving, I have suffered panic attacks so severe I have wanted to destroy myself, ifyou can suggest anything I will be very, very grateful:

Maxwell,

Borderline personality disorder is a chronic disorder often improved by regular psychotherapy.  Medications such as Prozac, an antidepressant, can also be helpful as an adjunctive treatment.  Medications and psychotherapy can be expensive but one must weigh the risks and benefits of not being treated.  I suggest that you talk with your psychotherapist/psychiatrist for possibly less expensive treatment options.  Keep in mind that this information is intended for educational purposes only and specific concerns about your condition should be directed to your personal physician.

Sincerely,

HFHS MD-JM

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy is an alternative

by Max, Aug 25, 1999 12:00AM
What the hell do you think you're doing fobbing me off with this rubbish, you did not even make an effort to explain what dialectical therapy means. Are you a specialist? Or has someone, somehow managed to get on to this site and pretend to be a doctor.
Your 'advice' s.w. whoever you are was utter rubbish, my condition is horrible, but in your typical robotic doctor mentality you just fail to see or understand that everybody else just wants a good quality explanation, take your advice and shove it where the sun does'nt shine, back in you head presumably!
