Can 150mg of Zoloft be too much?

by Marks470, Jun 03, 2009 02:36PM
I was recently upped to 150mg of zoloft.  I had been on 30mg of lexapro for six weeks and seemed to be getting worse.  He had me switch to 100mg of zoloft for a week and then in a week increase to 150mg.  Since I'v been at 150mg, I have felt very tired and more anxious at the same time.  It has been causing me to take xanax again after almost stopping.  I was down to less than 0.5mg per day.  Now I'm back to 1.0 to 1.5mg per day for the anxiety.  Obviously, I don't like taking xanax because of the addiction potential.  Can you help?

150 mg by itself is not too much, depending on your size and weight, but it sounds like you have a paradoxical effect...more anxiety rather than less, and this sometimes happens for people because Zoloft has a stimulating effect.   Talk to your doctor about changing the medication....
