I have been taking 20 mg of celexa for three weeks know.  I am reasonably happy with the results so far, except for a decrease in sex drive, and my day to day results very in effect (some days I fell GREAT! And some days I don't) .  Is there a recommended way to take this drug?   With or without food, caffeine, morning, or night.  I am hoping that my sex drive returns to normal over time as my headaches have diminished over time.

It may take up to 8 weeks before you feel the full benefits of Celexa, and you may eventually require a higher dose for optimal antidepressant effect. Sexual side effects are not uncommon with Celexa, and these may be resolved by adding other medications (such as Wellbutrin or Buspar) to the Wellbutrin, or by changing from Celexa to other antidepressants with little or no sexual side effects (such as Wellbutrin, Remeron, and Serzone). I urge you to discuss your concerns further with your treating physician/psychiatrist.

I am still having issues the sexual performance, I can deal with the decrease in sex drive but I am unhappy with my difficult in having an orgasm.  I understand that this can be caused by the decrease in dopamine, but would Viagra help with orgasm problems?

i have been on celexa <40 mgs> for several months now and ithas greatly improved my life. I havent noticed any changes in sexual desire, <if anything, its made me MORE active =-)~ Im also a 22 yr old woman > hopefully celexa will not change my sex drive for I am quite proud of mine!

Question--
I just started taking Celexa (10 mg) and am supposed to increase the doasage to 20 (maybe more eventually).....I have severe social phobia and depression...I took 50 mg of Zoloft for awhile(3 months) but wanted to change medications due to the sexual side effects. My new doctor said Celexa had less side effects overall... I have felt a little sick after taking it, but I figure it will go away after a week or two...My big question is Ive researched Celexa on many websites and most mention it being used for depression and OCD-- but none have mentioned anxiety or specifically social phobia anywhere. Zoloft and Paxil information seem to mention anxiety and phobias in almost eveything Ive read. Is Celexa as useful for anxiety and social phobia?? Will it be as effective for my anxiety? and does it have less side effects than Zoloft and Paxil (sexual, nervousness,etc)And if I drink alcohol while taking Celexa, can I drink in small amounts without worry?  I also take 2 mg of Klonopin a day....klonopin has really helped my social phobia and anxiety.  Thanks

a family member was just diagnosed with depression and was given a prescription for celexa.  this is a totally first experience for all of us.  any particular concerns we should be sensitive to for the individual concerned?  thanks...

I have a similar question to Sarah's, about anxiety. Have been on Celexa for about 7 weeks now, and have had 2 big panic episodes in the last week - hadn't had a panic attack in about 3 years (was on zoloft then paxil). It's pretty terrifying. Any info?

I have been on Celexa for almost a year now, and it has been tremendously effective. When I started, I was taking it in the morning, but after a couple weeks it started making me very physically ill. My Dr. suggested taking it at night, that for some reason your body seems to take it better that way. He was right. The first time I took it at night, my symptoms disappeared. I did notice a decrease in sex drive at first (I am a female), but it seems to have come back after a few months. :)
All in all, I am very happy with Celexa

I have been taking celexa for 2 months for depression,ocd, and anxiety.I felt the effects of the medication from the first dose(20 mg),my doctor said to cut the next dose to 10 mg and i have been fine ever since.Celexa took care of the depression,ocd,and anxiety.I have never felt so good in my whole life, and thank God that I got help.I went from wanting to kill myself, to loving my life again in a matter of days.I do not have any side effects(sexual) anymore.I feel very fortunate to be alive.

HELP PLEASE: I have been taking Celexa now for over 7 months. I have completly lost my sex drive. Is there any other medications I can take for this problem that will not interact with me taking the Celexa.

I have been on celexa for 4 wks........sexual libido is GONE! i can deal w/ the other loisy side effects but this is a BIGGY i just cant deal w/. I do enjoy "the deep depression state" to be lifted, i have head alot about using wellbutrin in conjuntion w/ celexa. anyone out there have any luck??

i have heard a lot of talk about using a med called wellbutrin w/ celexa to counter act the side of effect. anyone have any LUCK w/ it?? please let me know
