Help! Am concerned about a friend who was placed on anti-depressant about 3 months ago,
Zoloft. Right after starting this medicine, he began having some urinary issues, including frequency and a lot of

Groin pain
Groin stretch
Jock itch
Swollen lymph nodes in the groin area. It was VERY bothersome for him at

Colon cancer
Colorectal polyps

Rectal cancer, x-ray discomfort and
pressurePressure ulcer with this same pressure in the groin area and return of urinary symptoms. He is 50 now, so no suprise that the dr informed him it was benign prostatic hypertrophy. Said his prostate was very swollen, and put him on steroids. This helped somewhat, but he is now off the steroids, and they placed him on, I believe, Avodart. Since starting this, he has had absolutely no relief. It has only been a little over a week that he has been on this too, however. My question is that he seemed to be doing fine until he started this antidepressant. THAT is when everything really seemed to start for him. Yes, things seemed to get somewhat better, but I wonder if this antidepressant hasnt, in some way, caused these issues? I have looked online for him to see what I could fine, yet do not see any relationship to the antidepressant and prostatic symptoms. Has enyone ever heard of antidepressants like Zoloft causing this? He has asked his dr about this, yet his dr didnt seem to think this could be a possibility, yet I am still not convinced
