Is my grandfather sick

Hi im a 20 yr old female and this problem relates to my grandad. He's in his early 70's, suffers from glaucoma and has been blind for nearly 14 years( although he's never really accepted this fact). From time to time we'd notice some strange behaviour, brushing stuff of his person even when nothing was there. He said he could feel things crawling on him, during this period his speech would become slurred but this would only last for a day or 2 then he'd be back to his cantankerous self! However this is becoming more frequent, he actually claims to be seeing things crawling over him NOTHING IS THERE !!!. He would also start talking about getting ready for work and having to feed the kids ... This  started to freak us out so we took him to a doc where he had CTscans and lots of blood tests done which confirmed that while there are some irregularities with his kidneys he's ok. So my question is is my grandfather going senile( Mind u yesterday mornign he was acting normally and by nightfall sluring his wrds) or is there another problem. Mind u this is the most logical, rational man i know

Certainly these are signs of something, and that may not show up in ct scan. On the benign end of the spectrum, your grandfather's blindless that is partially denied could lead to a mild case of paranoia...crawling things...but the same symptom could occur from neurological changes in his brain, and for that  possibility you should ask your doctor for a more thorough check up by a neurologist or a geriatric psychiatrist.

When he refers to the past (getting ready for work and feeding the kids) if they're not relevant then something is clearly not right.
Don't know why but just wondering if dehydration may play a part??
I would definitely follow through with a specialist appointment.

Good luck for everything.  I hope it turns out OK.
