Medication

I've been taking 300 mg. Carbolit (Lithium Carbonate) for 4-5 years after being diagnosed with a "sub-clinical" bipolar condition. I also take 20 mg. Fluoxac and 0.5 mg. Ativan. All daily and all quite successfully. Is there another medication I can substitute for Carbolit to eliminate tremors?

There are many. Ask your doctor about Tegretol and Depakote and Lamictal.

Valproate, Carbamazepine, Topiramate, Lamotrigine, Gabapentine and Zyprexa are other choices. But there should be a good reason for switching medication.

Zyprexa  is being pushed by Lilly as the “best” choice.

Did the tremors just started? How bad are they?

I have had Depakote for 2 years without any success (plus other meds) and my pdoc told me that now it's time to test ECT. But luckily he first decided to test lithium (800mg) together with depakote (800) and it worked. For tremors I use beta blockers when needed and they work fine.
