Paxil and Pregnancy

I am 42 years old and am trying to get pregnant.  I am wondering if Paxil can proglong getting pregnant.  We have been trying since January 2003.  I understand my age has a lot to do with a delay in pregnancy.  My husband has been tested for potentcy and have come back with good results.  We have also tried Clomed for a couple of months but went off of it because of weight gain before our wedding this year June 2003.  We debate whether to go back to Chomed but I was wondering what side effect Paxil can have on trying to get pregnant.  I have been on paxil for 2 years and feel real good.  My therapist recommended I get more information on Paxil in relation to pregnancy.

I am looking forward to hearing back from you.

Paxil effects only one hormone, and that is prolactin, a hormone that is part of breast milk production.  Many doctors also give Paxil throughout pregnancy.   There is nothing reported about Paxil preventing pregnancy.  You might ask the same question to your obstetrican or contact the manufacturer for any information they have about yet unpublished studies.

It's not the paxil that is causing the pregnancy delay. I'm the pro at Paxil, trust me on this one. If you ever need help with ANYTHING about Paxil, or PaxilCR, shoot me an email at "***@****"
