Paxil

My wife is taking Paxil and has a low sex drive.  Besides seeing her doc, what kind of herbal supplements can she take to eliminate this problem?  Also, besides not taking her medication say on the weekends, can a female version of Viagra taken before activity help?
Thanx,

Dear Mr. Barros,

Antidepressants like  SSRI’s ( Serotonin Specific Reuptake Inhibitors ) such as  Paxil, Zoloft etc. . were shown to have adverse effects on sexual functioning. Other antidepressants like Wellbutrin, Remeron and Serzone were shown to have minimal sexual side effects. I would not recommend any herbal supplements given the fact that they are not FDA approved. Viagra  is contraindicated in women until now, but the efficacy of Viagra  in females is presently being studied.
I would recommend that your wife to discuss with her physician in detail about other alternatives.  Good Luck
