I am on Zoloft, Wellbutrin & Xanax.  My Psychiatrist wants to try Paxil but I am terrified of weight gain?   Is it really that common?  Any one else out there have any insights?   He says that it would really help me with the anxiety

You are no more likely to experience weight gain with Paxil than the other medications you are already on.  I would be uncomfortable being on so many medications at one time.

Hi
I was on paxil for a long time and never had any problem with weight gain. It made me a litle bit sleepy at the start which sapped some of my energy for exercising but this soon passed.
I found paxil an effective drug for depression and anxiety but I had problems getting off it .
Good luck

I don't think it's the SSRIs that are known to cause weight gain; the ones that do are the "antipsychotics" like Zyprexa, Risperdal, Haldol, etc.
I took Paxil for about a year and noticed no weight gain, actually the reverse (was happier and less anxious, so I nibbled less).

Good luck!

FYI-

As far as your concern about all the meds, my doc was going to switch out the Zoloft for Paxil.  Is that still too much meds?
