Please Help Extreme Anxiety from Tinnitus

Hi, Please can you suggest a medication similar to clomapramine that will deal with anxiety and obsessive rumination.  I have been told by my neurologist that I cannot take an ssi, and the tinnitus was caused by zoloft.  Clomapramine used to work well for me, but now elevates the ringing and I have to stay away from it for 6-8 months.  I am supposed to stay within the benzodiazepine class, but am finding anxiety overwhelming.  Is there something out there that I may consider now, or down the road.  I am currently on 3 mg daily of lorazepam.

I would ask your doctor about Klonopin...it is safe, long lasting, effective and a benzodiazepine.

I also have Tinnitus and take Wellbutrin. Previously I took Parnate. I have heard that Betahistine (SERC) will help relieve Tinnitus.
Anybody know about this?

I also have tinnitus which was triggered by an SSRI (Prozac, but I've also tried most of the other SSRI's and they all made it worse). So has Pamelor, and several others. Anti-depressants I've tried which haven't worsened it are Mianserin and Aurorix. Unfortunately neither of them helped with the depression either, and I'm not even sure if they're available in the USA anyway.

SERC is unlikely to be of any use for tinnitus. It is often prescribed, but seldom makes any difference. It's main use is to treat the vertigo associated with Meniere's disease. I don't know anyone who's said that SERC helped their tinnitus.
