Serotonin Syndrome

I've been taking prozac for the last 5 years, and found when
I got a lot of sunshine (I live in Florida) I had to cut
back on the dosage, 20 mg to 15mg a day (15mg accomplished
by taking 3 10mg over 2 days) otherwise I would get really
irratable and anxious. I recently heard of Seratonin Syndrome
when reading info on Meridia - (I'm metabollicly challenged).
And this seems to descibe what I experience - I know sunshine
affects serotonin - could the combination be causeing
Serotonin Syndrome. At a recent pysch eval, the Dr seemed
to think it was probably placebo affect,- however I've
noticed in these evals, they always challange you at the end on
something - How well known is Serotonin Syndrome? Thanks

Carole,
Serotonin syndrome is believed to be a rare, not wellunderstood condition that occurs due serotonin overload. Some of the symptoms of this syndrome are: confusion, fever, tremor, agitation,seizures, myclonic jerks, coma or death. I have not come accross any literature linking this syndrome and sunlight together. I suggest that you discuss this situation further with your psychiatrist if needed.

Why would a doctor prescribe three anti-depressants plus mirapex - ultram - and pseudophedrine to one patient? Is this dangerous and should I quit taking this medication mixture?
