Skin/Acne Picking

by anonymous46, Mar 14, 2001 12:00AM
I'm a 46 year old woman.  I have always had what I would consider mild to normal acne.  The face clears up when I drink plenty of water so I guess that's not a problem.  The problem is my back (upper across the shoulders and lower just above my butt).  I have these "bumps" small, medium size that do not necessary ever "errup" there is something underneath.  I try to be patient, but I guess out of nervousness or whatever, I scratch (the initially do not itch really) and/or pick until I can get the underneath out whatever.  Well at that point, I've done damage and then I pick at the damage and it takes forever for it to heal.  Often it just doesn't heal becaue I keep picking at the new scabs.  I keep thinking I just want to get the bad stuff out and that's why I need to pick, but I know better.  At this point it does tend to itch a bit.  When I try to keep it clean, dry etc (not too dry because that aggravates it) and try NOT to pick, it seems to still take for ever to heal and then there are more new "bumps" coming.  I'd just like a nice smooth back with no bumps and for me to stop.

Help?

P.S.  Perhaps it's some kind of "bad habit" because I also have dry feet, but there it is just dead skin that I peel off...never to the extent of blood...but it is still picking I guess. The feet are much better once I had some salve put on to keep the fungus from making my feet peel.

When you have a behavior pattern that you know is counterproductive and still can't get yourself to stop you have a minor form of what is called a compulsion. From what you described, I believe that a consultation with a therapist, preferably a psychiatrist because medications may be prescribed, will be of great value to you.

There is no such thing as an anti aging or wrinkle cream. The best thing you can do for your skin is to wash it genly and use at least a spf 30 sunblock.you can use a betahydroxy acid to exfoliate the surface skin cells that like to hang around and that will improve the appearance of the wrinkes but I am sorry to say there is no miracle cream,Just lots of good moisturizers.
good luck

I totally disagree with you Venora.......let me tell you that the creams Max needs and that you say don't exist, i am using. I am a 30 years olld women, my skin is already aging and since i first noticed my face in the mirror i have wrinkles.
Now it's been 3 months since i've started using Anti-wrinkle Cream with Clay and Day Lift Anti-Age Cream, both from ASLASKIN (www.aslaskin.com). Great products and also 100% natural. Let me tell you that i am more than satisfied with the results.
So, Max, and you too Venora, can totally use ASLASKIN products, as they have cosmetics for any problem you could think of. I totally recommend them
