Terrible Celexa Withdrawals

by Chris81653, Apr 18, 2008 12:51PM
I been on 40mg of celexa and 1 mg a day of klonopin for almost a year now due to panic attacks.  Which helped me a great deal.  I decided to wean myself off of celexa and I did it very gradually and the correct way according to my doctor.  I stopped taking it almost a week ago.  I been going through absolute torture!  I never experienced something like this before.  Feelings such as crying, nausea,a numbness sensation in my hands, lips and a rush in my head, dizzy and very very moody nasty to the point people can't stand me!  I also started birth control pills as well this month so my body doesn't know what it wants to do with itself.  I just want these symptoms to stop and go away please!  I went to my doctor yesterday he took blood did an ekg because I told him i have palpitations and he said I don't and my heart it perfectly normal!  I don't know why I did this to myself I should have just stayed on the medication.  I just figured I would try not to be on so much medication.  My doctor said I should have tried to come off klonopin before celexa, but now that's too late so I am taking 2 pills of klonopin a day instead of 1 while I have these withdrawal symptoms.  I am hoping they pass soon!!!!  I need to concentrate at my job and I can't feeling this way.  This morning I took 1 1/2 mg of klonopin and I feel a lil better.  I been trying to excercise more to relieve this.  Do you know how long it will be until I get better?  I'm giving it a few more days and then i'm just going to start taking a low dosage of celexa again.  I'm sure my blood work will hopefully come back ok also as they are checking my thyroid and I had it checked before and thank God everything was fine.  Please God help me get through this...I don't wish this upon anyone...As I read this board it seems everyone has the same exact withdrawal symptoms as I do.

Thanks for listening...

Withdrawal symptoms are truely terrible...I don't know how gradually you stopped, but it should have been over three weeks, with the last dose being the smallest possible every other day before you stop...if you didn't do that, then try to take smallest dose you can take every other day, along with klonopin, and when you withdrawal symptoms stop, then keep it up for one more week, then stop.

also i don't know why I decided to do this to myself right now...so i'm going to start taking celexa again in the meantime for a while.  Maybe my body just isn't ready to come off it yet.  Panic attacks are not fun!
