Wellbutrin for Depression and ADD

by PATTY, May 26, 2000 12:00AM
I have been taking Wellbutrin for 7 months 300 mg/day..I tried
Prozac and Celexa...but, sexual side effects and headaches were a problem...my doctor suggested that Wellbutrin could alleviate depression and help me with ADD...I've been really great as far as the depression is concerned until recently...I feel like I'm going back and forth from O.K. to no motivation again..I feel like my meds.  are not working like it did...is this normal?and I've become so forgetful again..it seems to be worse then before..I've locked my keys in my car twice this week..the coffee pot burned all day...I call my friends back and forget I did...or the opposite..I don't call at all..I'm not doing it on purpose.. and quite honestly I feel like being alone alot.  I feel like a need a charge or something..and I am exercising daily, but, afterward I want to lay down..Is there a better medication for me..I do realize finally that most likely i'll have to deal with taking an anti-depressant for the rest of my life(I hate saying that)but, when I don't I'm much worse..Do you have any thoughts on this?  I'm female and 33 years old..Thank You.

It is fairly common that a medication that previously worked stops working. Thi may be due the changes in one's brain that affects the mechanism of the medication. Oftentimes, increasing the dose of the medication improves its efficacy. Other strategies, switching to a different class of medicines, combination of 2 antidepressants, medication and psychotherapy.

Major Depression is a disorder that has a high chance of recurring.

Patty,

There's only so much that drugs and psychotherapy can do.
You and I have a soul that is empty without Christ.
He can fill your soul if you'll ask Him. I'm not telling you to stop taking the drugs, etc. You may need to for some type of imbalance. It's just that when the physical stuff is taken care of, it only leaves whatever may have triggered this whole thing in the first place, like abandonment, emptiness, isolation, abuse, etc. Only God can heal those things.

Take Care,

Carol.
