Zoloft with Zyprexa or Wellbutrin?

by ellemmmmm, Jun 15, 2004 12:00AM
I have been taking 150 mg of zoloft per day for about 5 years now for OCD.  However, I still have depression and my doctor has prescribed taking zyprexa with my zoloft.  Is this safe?  Also, what about taking zoloft with Wellbutrin instead?  Is that safer?  I don't want to have to go off zoloft since it works for my OCD.  The side effects for zyprexa sound scary.

Thanks!

Its not really possible to make a suggestion here because I don't know the reason your doctor is prescribing Zyprexa.  Ask him or her if there is a specific kind of depression that are treating at this time. There is no question that wellbutrin is a safer      to use if that is appropriate treatment.

I've taken Zoloft for over 10 years.  I resisted it for several years, but finally tried it.  What a huge difference it did make!  I noticed a lesser sex drive interest, but discounted that to my age.

Last week, I got a report on a chest exray, regarding my use of "Swisher Sweets" cigars and the damage they are doing to my lungs.  I've always felt vulnerable with the addiction to nicotine, but now have serious evidence that there is damage already done and ongoing damage, until I can give up the foul things.  My doctor suggested trying Welbutrin, and I have begun the switch.  One more dose of zoloft and I'm there.  My question is that, is it really nessicary to take more than 150 mg of Welbutrin when I took 75 mg of zoloft?  I would love to not add more medicines to my regimine.  I take Hyzar for hypertension and soy for post-hysterectomy therapy and a multivitiman a day. Please feel free to email me directly, regarding this question. Also, does Welbutrin really help with addictions?
