Hi can you please explain to me what the terms "emotion modulation" and "reflective capacity" mean in the context of borderline personality disorder?  Thanks.

IN general, those terms are a way of describing a thinking process where the emotionality of an issue...anger, hurt, loneliness, etc.....is so strong ( unmodulated) that the person has a difficult time thinking through what is really happening (reflective capacity).

so if an emotional modulation is the ability to make one's own emotions smaller or more bearable? to tollerate them a bit like tolleration of pain?
