ocd symptoms?

Is doubt a common symptom of ocd?

i do suffer from obsession and i am alot better than i was in the past, but is it common for an ocd sufferer to be plagued with doubts??...

Example : i have a bad habit of asking questions about certain things and i often find myself asking over n over even when somebody gives me the answer the 1st time...its as though that when time passes by from when i asked the question, my mind will start to feel worried and uncertain about the answer that i got, so then i will feel a sudden urge to ask again...  =(

is it common for the ocd to not allow me to feel certain about specific thoughts and occurrences??

also, when i feel the urge to ask questions (sometimes over n over), is that basically the compulsion to try and rid away the obsession??

the doubt you describe is actually part of the core symptoms of ocd.  If you are not seeing a therapist, I would recommend that you do. It can be very helpful.

To: Hey
I have had ocd since I was a kid. I do the same thing that you do. I think the reason you ask a question so many times is because you might not have gotten the answer you were looking for.... think about it, if you got the answer that you thought was comming, you would be sure about the answer, If it wasnt the answer you thought was comming, or you never thought of the answer comming to you then you would be unsure still as to if the person was actually telling the truth or them just telling you what they think they want you to hear. thats just my opinion.
Im also sauced at the moment
take care I hope I was helpful

I had an aunt that did this and my middle daughter used to do this as well.  It was called perfectionism.  Do you want to make sure that you got it right?  Feel like you are compelled to make sure just one more time?  That is all that I ever knew that this kind of behavior was.

it depends on the severity of the doubt and whether you can function with our without the doubt.

if this doubt turns into an obsessive rumination that plagues your life and impairs your ability to function then you might have ocd but I am no dr. just someone with ocd.

i have ocd and im 20 ive had ocd for the last 10 years. i do think you have it to but i dont know how bad. when i was a kid i would ask people the same question over and over again "how old are you" and i know there ages but i never got an answer that felt right to me. so i would ask again and then they would say the same age but this time if felt right. so i moved on. ocd i a form of anxiety and when you do somthing over and over again your looking for the right feeling and when you do then the anxiety is gone for now. peopel do this because in their mind they think well if that answer wasnt right then somthing bad will happen so you keep on going because now you put it in your mind that somthing is going to happen till i get the answer i want or the answer that makes you feel good. i hope this makes sence let me know!!!!

To: anyone
I've suffered from OCD since I was 17.  I'm now 49 years old.  The only thing that has helped me is Luxov.  I've tried so many different anti-depressants.  Luvox is the only thing that has worked for me.  Also, I suffer from major anxiety.  I was taking 9 mg. of Xanax per day.  My doctor took me off of Xanax, and 2 days later I started having grand-mal seizures.  So, my doctor put me on Seroquel. Seroquel is more evil than Xanax!  I was taking 800 mg. per day of Seroquel.  I've tapered myself down to 100 mg. per day.  I'm going through major withdrawals!  But, I don't care.  I'm getting off of this evil ****!  I don't care if I can't sleep.  I'm getting off of the ****!  Good luck people!
