suboxone

Dear Dr.

I detoxed off ultram.  I was up to 30 pills a day for about 4 years.  I have been on suboxone for 3 1/2 months.  I take 1mg or half a pill.

My question is what will happen if I relapse and start taking ultram?  Will the naloxone stop the ultram from re-addicting me?
It is a partial opiod blocker how would that make my body react to the possible re-introducing of the ultram?

Thank You
Sincerely,
S. Fabrizio

The answer is that it would be a very dangerous experiment for you to try.  If you look at the phrasing of your statement about Naloxone, you will see the problem in a nutshell.   Its not the outside blocker that will stop you from re-addicting, it is only your decision, from deep within you, that will determine if you become a addicted again.  Remember, it is a decision you have to make.

To: Dear Doctor,
I was taking percocet and oxycontin for almost 3 yrs. I got to the point that I was taking up to between 100-120 mg a day. I was told about the suboxone by a friend and went to my family doctor because I wanted to get off the drugs I was taking and I knew I could not do it on my own. He gave me a 3 day supply of .05 mg twice a day. The day after I finished taking this I felt horrible like I was withdrawing again. I relapsed right back onto the percocet and oxycontin and went right back to the amount taking what I was before. How long should I be taking the suboxone and will I have the same withdraw symptoms when I do get off of it? I need help and this is so frustrating. My doctor feels that I should not be on the suboxone for more that a few days..what can I do? I want to get off the pills so bad and I feel like I am fighting a losing battle. Can you give me any suggestions?

hey today is my secund day of suboxone and as far as withdrawl goes seems to be working , my problem is that I have sevre spinal damage aand was on 150 mcg fentnal and morphine for breakthrough pain.  I was still in constant pain so I decidied not to use meds anymore so I have turned to suuboxone for the withdrawl however my pain is sevre.  the doctor at the clinic said suboxone was used for pain and should work better. anyone know if he is right or should I have just stayed on my other meds.  If someone has any info I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks for Your Time

I had a bad accident 3 year ago.  I was on all kinds of drugs and 15 steroids injection in spine area.  There was no hope in my mind.  Heavy percoset, ococode  Then two months ago I was put on Suboxone 2mg every six hours.  Pain is down to 3 level and my life is back.  My wife calls this pill a god sent.

I am in the medical field and have had extensive experience with suboxone. This medication should only be used as a DETOX medication. This medication should be started to help get you off of a opioid (narcotic) type of drug addiction and then tapered down over 5-7 days. Some, actually only very few people should be on this medicine long term ( a few weeks max) for really long term addictions. It is not intended to be on more than that amount of time though. And it is a med that is supposed to be given only every 12 hours. Hope the info helps.

I go a pain and detox specialist and they state that I can be on Suboxone long term to stem pain and detox.  These are MD's. They state that they have a lot of patients on long term.

I've been taking Suboxone for about five days.  Over the last couple of days i've used meth for some energy.  The amount of meth i've taken before really gave me a lot of energy and I didn't feel sleepy.  This weekend's use of meth has not given me energy, alertness, or anything.  Could it be the suboxone is working on the effects of meth?
