so i'll be brief;OCD diagnosed 12 or so years ago; severe; little success with treatment; tried 3-4 meds; taking my nth ssri now; had behavioral therapy, had "counseling", many meds; many docs; my life is one extended rainy day punctuated by thunderstorms;  not hopeful that there is a solution but thought i'd ask others with mental health issues; any ideas; anything I haven't tried;  been to multiple people;  i actually have disdain for the mental health professionals now; thanks for time

There is an answer if you can find the right therapy doctor and experiment with the right med. cocktail. Try finding one through your local university.

Sorry I've no solutions to offer, but I can totally sympathize.  Just reaching out for help at all is so hard that it's extremely frustrating to have reached out again and again without relief.  There are docs and pharmacists who actually specialize in psychiatric medications.  It could be that if you seek them out  (try calling a local hospital--especially a university affiliated or teaching hospital--for a referral) you will finally find someone willing to work with you very individually to discover the right combination of medications for you and your particular OCD.  Sometimes, drugs are dispensed as though a one-size-fits-all approach will always work, but it clearly doesn't always work.  Perhaps you are one who needs a more individualized approach.  Best of luck in your quest.
