blood pressure reading are higher when you are anxious or tense, so if the xanax works it should lower the reading, but that does not make it  good medication to control high blood pressure..talk to your doctor about that.

As a lay person I have no idea of parameters but I would probably expect a decrease (lower readings).  Not sure.  The doctor will respond when he's available.
