xanax for 'bridge' therapy

my dr. started me on zoloft tuesday 25 mg the first week and then 50 for the two following weeks and the i am not sure, but my question is she gave me xanax for bridge theropy, has any one heard of this? does it help? i have horrible shakeing i went off lexapro cold turkey by accident (long story) i dont want to get addictied to this. but i hate the shaking, while i have the shaking i feel dizzy, off balance,twitching through out my body off and on?? is this part of the depression, how long before i see even small results from the zoloft!!! HELP!!! leslie

Xanax is very good as bridge to stop the shaking if it comes from anxiety, or even from withdrawal.   Zoloft usually takes two to three weeks for a noticeable effect.
