If you want to go off of xanax, you can do it two ways. One is to slowly taper off...cut your daily dose in half, stay on it for 4 days, cut it in half for 4 days, once more and stop.

The other way is to ask your doctor to prescribe klonopin, which is longer acting, and then just go off the xanax. The klonopin will cover.
