methadone shame

Thanks so much for starting this group.  I feel that I have at last found a place where I can be honest about my methadone use without feeling ashamed for using it.  Peoples comments about meth all seem to be so negative but I feel that it has really saved my life.  Everything was such a mess, mainly due to mental health issues, so I started to self medicate, then ultimately ended up on methadone.  I feel that it has given me back some control over my life.  I don't know if I will ever get off the meth, probably not, but that is not something that I worry about to be honest.It's hard to say how methadone makes me feel.  I am on so much other medication that I just can't tell, other than it stops the WD.I just take it every morning and forget it.  I collect it every friday from my local pharmacy.  I don't have to attend the clinic anymore.  If I dont't feel able to go outside, they deliver it. I have never cheated with it.  It is just one of the many things I need to take to stay well.  Again, thankyou. jude2008
