CT Scan Abnormal, but MRI Normal

Having horrible headaches, confusion, memory loss, etc.

7/23/12-Abnormal CT Scan:
IMPRESSION: Subtle abnormality within the white matter of the left
frontal lobe near the vertex. This finding is nonspecific but abnormal
for age. Differential considerations include ischemia of unknown
chronicity as well as a demyelinating process. Brain MRI imaging with and
without contrast would be the best means of further evaluation.

7/31/12-Normal MRI.

How is this possible? Does that mean nothing is wrong?

Leona,

That's great that there was nothing to worry about on the abnormal CT scan.  My scans have also shown a bunch of "abnormalities" which the neurosurgeon said was nothing to worry about.  Just aging stuff.

It sounds like you are on the right track.

Saw the doctor yesterday.

He said maybe it's migraines, gave me some samples to try and if they don't work he'll refer me to a "headache doctor".

He also had some blood work done.

We'll see what happens next.

I know that God has everything under control, so I'm not worried-just a little tired.

Thanks again,

You really need to have your doctor explain your results since only your doctor knows the full picture of what you have.

Regardless of what the scans show, you still need treatment for your migraines.  Don't leave your appointment without getting a prescription for some medication.  Good luck at your appointment and please let me know what the doctor has to say.

No its me that has depression.  I know you don 't.  My silly mistake.

I have had migraines and headaches all my life, and depression for 20years.

I had CT scan for arthritis and suspected cancer, but clear thank goodness.

So sorry you are in pain so much.  Let me know how you get on as I am concerned for you.

Take care.

Thank you so much for your reply!

I'm seeing my doctor Monday.
At this point, I've been told nothing about my scans.
I only have the info I posted because I went to the hospital and got a copy of the report myself.

Thanks also for the advice.  I'm not really worried, I'm just tired of the constant headaches and pressure.

I didn't know this was a depression site.  I don't suffer with depression.

When you got the above diagnosis, what did your consultant say it meant?  Only they can tell you if anything is wrong or not.

Your own doctor, who must have sent you to hospital in first place, should also have had a chat to you about why you need two types of scan.

We are not the ones to ask, as we have no knowledge of what a CT scan means.  I could not understand the wording of mine, and had to ask.  That is what the doctors are for.  You need to be told what happens to you next.

Don't going worrying yourself into what this all means, please ask the doctors as soon as possible.

I presume you have depression as you are on the depression site.  Do you think your scans have something to do with that?   Depression, of course, cannot show up on scans.

Welcome to Medhelp and I hope you find the help you need, and people to understand what you are going through.  You are not alone if you are here.
