12 year old sees light in eye during headache

Hi,
My daughter, who is almost 13 has had a couple of bad headaches that during the headache she said there was a small light in the corner of her eye (outside corner) during the headache.   She saw the light with her eyes both ope and closed . It sounds like an aura to me, but arent they supposed to happen before the headache? I got my first aura at 38 and it was before the headache, started small, shimmering larger and larger,  Hers stayed the same size, lasted 10 to 20 minutes and were in the active stage of a painful headache.  
I Think I should take her to her dr, but my husband says she is fine.  He says it probably means she will get her period soon
Has anyone heard of a seeing lights AFTER the headache has begun?

Thanks for posting.
Migraine aura can last through the headache and in some cases it may persist for days after the headache has ended.
Aura symptoms have been known to last for upto 24 hrs, so it is not unusual for your daughter to experience aura symptoms with headache and lasting even when headaches are over. Migraine has a strong genetic predisposition and since you suffer from migraine there is a good chance that your daughter has it too.
Please maintain a headache diary and try to identify the trigger in her case.
