3 week Migraine- desperate for help

Hello, I have had an ongoing headache with nausea for about three weeks. Mri and labs checked out ok. Darvocet, tylenol, ibuprofen dont seem to help much. Dr gave me a shot in my neck which helped for two days but also left me with flushing.  The same Dr gave me Naproxen and hydracodone but i cannot take the hydracodone as it upsets my stomach and basically does not allow me to function. The front and back of my head hurt as do my neck and jaw. My vision is fuzzy at times and it is difficult to do my job which requires much detail and work on a computer. Also had a moment where I would look at a particular document and know that I was upposed to do something with it but for a few seconds did not not know what to do. Just kind of froze there staring at it.I feel like I am going crazy. Any ideas what else might be causing the problem. My daughter s getting married in a week ansd I am so afraid that this is going to mess things up.

Do some research on Histamine.  Try a low histamine diet for at least 3 weeks.  NO CHEESE, TOMATOES, CHOCOLATE, RED WINE, SPINACH, STRAWBERRIES, ETC.  Use an anti-histamine (ie, Zyrtec, Benadryl, Claritin) until the headaches dissapear.  Hope this helps.

I found a fantastic book that backs up the information that migraines are most often caused hormonal imbalance (too much Estrogen, I believe ), which can be balanced by using a bio-identical progesterone creme. Don't ever let anyone give you fake hormones - they will hurt you. You can get  bio-identical progesterone at your local health food store. Check out the book first, and maybe find a doctor that will check out your endocrine system for you. The book is The Miracle of Bio-Identical Hormones, by Michael E. Platt, M.D.

This is also a link to a website I just found that looks interesting. One of the patients interviewed said that her migraines were cured with this procedure.

Good luck and take care.

hey, my name is kittie. i have had migraines since i was 7 years old. i am now 56 yrs. old. i finally was told about a drug called maxalt 10. 10 as in 10 mlg. this is the only thing that works. please tell your dr. about this drug and insist on it. if you get an aura. that is seeing floaters or what i call lightning strikes, not being able to see for a while before the headaches start, take the maxalt right away. this will help.               hope this will help

Hello traceygirl07,

You need to reduce the number of hours sitting in front of a computer as this would lead to increased stress on the eyes which would in turn precipitate migraine.
Consult your physician for the management through the combination of sumatriptan plus naproxen.
Choosing a strategy to manage your migraines depends on the frequency and severity of your headaches, the degree of disability your headaches cause, and your other medical conditions.
