5 weeks of misery and migraine pain

Hi, I have been having a severe migraine for 5 weeks now. Hit hits right behind my right eye above my ear like if I got stabbed there and last from 2 hr to 8 hrs or longer. I get alot of them at night and wake up lightheaded, my eye is watery and it hurts to move my eyes. The pain will be so severe that I have blacked out and feel numbness in my right side of face all the way to my toes. After the headache subsides its still lingering pressure like my brain wants to explode from my head and I am left a little confused and out of it, blurred double vision. They did a CT-Scan and all came back ok so did my heart monitor (I feel like the blood from my brain drains) when I have the headache and they said I have Vertigo. I tried Imitrex/shot, OTC, Topomax, Ativan..ect and now have me on Valium. I have had migraines for years and was able to take 2 Aleve and it will go away. Now I cant even function on a day to day been out of work since this started. I only had a migraine class and am hoping to get into the Neurologist soon, but is there anything else that I can in the mean time? Valium is not working and I am drained and depressed by these headaches. I have never felt this much pain..labor was easier than dealing with these headaches.

Not much to offer you in the meantime except ice on the head pain.

If you take any OTC or pain reliever 3 times a week or more, you are likely suffering from rebound headaches.

You mention you have tried Topomax.  If you have been on that long enough to determine whether it is going to work, ask the doctor who prescribed that one to prescribe another daily preventative migraine medicine for you to try until you can see a neurologist.

If none of the daily preventative medicines work, then the neurologist can offer you other treatments such as Botox, nerve block injections, trigger point injections, accupuncture, physical therapy, etc.

Sorry you are suffering so much.  Hopefully you can get more help soon.
