Alcohol and Migraines

Hi There
This is my 1st ever post - whoop!
Just wanted to ask if anyone can help me with a migraine question... I have been suffering from migraines with aura for 2 years now. I am constantly trying to pinpoint the triggers which untill recently seemed to be everything and anything!

However recently the migraines only apear after i have been drinking (the day after not the same night) I never wake up with the migraine it comes on usually in the afternoon when i begin to sober up.

I am a very healthy 29 year old female, i exercise at least 4 times a week, eat extremely healthly and do not drink excessively.

Can anyone help me? It is my birthday next weekend and i am absolutly dreading it as i daren't drink for fear of spending 3 days in a pile, crying, panicing etc...
By the way, I also have panic attacks whilst suffering from the migraines (or at least i think its a panic attack, it may be a symptom of the migraine??)

Alcohol per se is not a migraine trigger but wine especially red wine which contains tyramine is a well known trigger for migraines. I would suggest you to completely avoid red wine. Beer is another alcoholic drink associated with migraines although the association is not as strong as red wine. This is due to histamine content in beers.
Panic attacks are not usually associated with migraine, however any sort of stress can trigger both migraines and panic attacks. If you feel that you are about get a migraine you can take OTC pain killers like Ibuprofen. Also please consult your physician also about this. Thanks
