by mich41, Sep 05, 2008 06:49AM
I recently had an MRI done because of some terrible headaches I have been having, also some sore joints and weekness in my right arm, my results came back saying I have Moderate amount of cortical atrophy.  What the heck is going on does this mean I will definately end up with dementia or could this be not serious, please help I need a straight answer.  I am waiting for my app with the neurologist.

Thank you,

Hi,

How are you?
Cortical atrophy can occur due to smoking, diabetes, high BP, chronic headache and migraines.
This is true that if cortical atrophy continues to progress it impairs the thought process and intellectual functions.
Do you have any symptoms presently?
