Auras

I have been having migraines off and on for the past 6 years. They begin with an aura, aura goes away, migraine starts about 20 minutes after the aura disappears. For the past three weeks I have been getting migraines 2-3 times per week. For the past 2 days I have had auras 607 times per day for by no migraines just horrible pressure and throbbing headaches, with neck pain. I find myself forgetting things and I tend to be a little off balance at times. I am calling my dr. in the morning. Is there any questions or procedures I should request? Also, what are your thoughts and or comments on my symtoms (symptoms)?

Hi,

Thanks for writing in.
Migraine attacks vary in intensity and frequency. It seems however in your case that the aura symptoms have increased drastically. It is important to make sure these symptoms are due to migraine and not due to stroke.
Even if it is not stroke it has been found that increased frequency of migraine aura does increase the risk of stroke slightly.
Please make sure that you get yourself clinically evaluated for risk factors for stroke.
Also there is a possibility that your migraine meds need dose adjustment r you may have to switch over to another medication.
Do keep us posted!
