I had a severe BM headache 15 or so years ago and had a lumbar puncture,MRI  and cat scans all revealed nothing. Over the last 18 months I've had not so severe BM headaches until last Wednesday night when I had the most severest BM headache you could imagine and I survived a heart attack 3 years ago and this pain beats that hands down. My BM on Wednesday night started off as a usual BM  but after 10 minutes or so on the toilet I knew I hadn't finished but could no longer pass anything else so I cleaned up and went to the kitchen then within 30 seconds I got severe cramps in my stomach and rushed straight back to the toilet within seconds of sitting down I had an explosive BM at the same time as defecated I felt this very weird and warming feeling pass up through my stomach then my chest and into the back of my neck and head at which point it felt like a baseball was being bashed into the back of head then within seconds my whole head was pulsating to my heartbeat with the most extreme pain I have ever endured I thought my head was going to explode. After about 5 minutes it dissipated so I cleaned up took some panadeine forte naff laid down after about 5 minutes I once again had to have another BM in which I once again got an awful headache bit not as severe, I continued to a slight headache for upto 3 days. I explained all this to my GP and told him I thought the cause of this was a digestive problem as I felt it move up through my body but he dismissed this wholeheartedly and has sent me for an MRI for my brain lets see what this says. Can anyone else explain what might be causing these headaches

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi,
How are you? Are there other symptoms present? If you are referring to a passive exertion ( bowel movement) with your headache, this could be due to exertion headaches. Majority of these headaches are related to migraine or cluster headaches. However, with your neck and TMJ issues, other possible issues like aneurysms, tumors, or blood vessel malformation should also be ruled out.  Check with your doctor or be referred to a neurologist for proper evaluation. Direct neurological examination and further evalaution may need to be done. Take care and do keep us posted.

Hi...U should look to family history for headaches and balance issues...see if there is ne...and then reexamine ur own health history and see if there isn't more  that may be connected.

U may want to talk to ur Dr about a cervical spine MRI to see why with the strain of a BM U have this pain....

If ur bone spurs r pressing against nerves it may be causing an issue, but this could also be something else, so do seek a Drs advice.
