Back of the ear pain.

My mom who is 48 years old has been having pain on the back of the right ear since a week. She had headache and fever a week before because she had to travel long distances for 2-3 days. The fever then turned into the ache which becomes alright when painkillers are taken. What are these symptoms of?

How is your mom? Fever highly suggests an infection, whether viral or bacterial in origin. Are there other symptoms present like ear discharge or loss of hearing? With the presence of  fever and ear pain, an ear infection is likely. Pain reliever and fever medications may help provide relief. However, if her symptoms persist, it is best that she see her doctor or be referred to an ear doctor for proper evaluation. Antibiotic treatment may also be indicated depending on the evaluation.
