Biologically Identical Hormone Therapy for migraine

Does anyone heard or tried the natural hormone replacement as a treatment for migraine.
Dr. Andrew Jones from Texas claim that 80% of his patients cured!
My daughter is 13 years old, and suffers from migraine really badly. So missed so many days of school and her life quality isn’t great.
Her tolerance for drugs isn’t great, so we have to try natural or herbal remedies.

Hormone therapy is usually given when there is some hormonal deficiency ( estrogen or progesterone) which leads to hormonal headaches.

Since your daughter is very young its better to stay clear of hormones and try other methods like
staying away from headache triggers. Natural and herbal remedies also help.

Also exercises and yoga helps

I am not a doctor but I would NEVER try hormone therapy or natural remidies on someone so young.  I am also Very suspicious of an 80% CURED rate.  I go to a very high profile neurologist in St Louis who has been associated with Washington University/Barnes (one of the top hospitals in the country).  He says that none of his patients who tried this got significant relief.  His daughter is an OB/GYN in New York, she had the same response.  My ob/gyn told me the same thing.

I have horrible estrogen/menstrual migraines along with other headaches.
BUT - your daughter needs help and pat yourself on the back for reaching out to find it.  My daughter started with severe migraines in 5th grade.  Nothing worse than seeing your daughter with a pillow in the bathroom doing math homework waiting to vomit.  She has missed tons of school days ever since.  But she is a happy thriving grades A sophmore at one of the hardest private girls schools in the midwest.  I'm a sick single mom trying to keep up with the $10,000 a year tuition.  She is in an internship at one of our hospitals working towards becoming a neurologist.  I am not bragging - just want you to see what your daughter can accomplish with the headaches.

What I did for my daughter.  Find the best childrens hospital in your area and get a referral for a board certified pediatric neurologist.  I have never allowed the use of SSRI's or Imitrex because of the risks.  I am thrilled with the use of Elevil, an old tricyclic that also helps with anxiety/depression (not thrilled with the other tricyclics for this).  Migraneurs tend to be type A personalities, alot of them also with anxiety.  The Elevil makes you sleep really sound and modulates pain.  Of course, only the doctor would know if it is right for her (no respiration problems etc..).  My daughter did start Fioricet for pain at maybe 11 or 12.   I by no means push pain medicine for children but they should not have to lay in pain either.  The doctor will tell you about the tons of options, I always make sure to get the littlest dose and start tiny.  That way you can see what she can tolerate.  Good Luck, I know how hard it is watching your daughter in pain.
