Brain Tumor?

Brain Tumor?

I have been having very mild, but almost constant headaches for the past 2 weeks in addition to a dizzy feeling.  Pain is primarily in the forehead/temple region.  I have no other signs of infeciton.  I went to my PCP who prescibed a pain medicaiton, but it doesn't seem to be working.  I'm very worried that this unresolved headache/dizzyness is a sign of a tumor.  I have also noticed that 1 of my eyes gets blurry once in a while, but the resolves when I blink a few times.  The rest of my neurological exam was fine.  I will probably ask my PCP to order an MRI for me soon, but I guess I am just looking for some reassurance that this is unlikely.  I know nothing can be ruled out without imaging, but I'm sure the worry is not healping the headache.

I suffer with Migrains and i get blurry vision from the side effects of them, i had an allergy test which told me i was allergic to cows milk and cheese and oranges. I cut these out of my diet and the migraines soon eased off. I would recommend seeing your doctor about migraines and also cosulting a herbal specialist for an allergy test, they do cost a bit of money, but its well worth it. Hope you get better soon :)

Hi,

I suggest you also get a complete eye examination aside from the neurologic consultation. A sinus headache also needs to be excluded. Have you any previous sinus infections before? Do you have any history of allergies?

A diagnosis of migraine headaches is usually given once other possible causes of the condition has been done.At this point, we may be considering a tension headache , headache secondary to an eye problem and a sinus headache.

An MRI scan may be able to help.Let me assure you that this does not sound like a brain tumor.A brain tumor is fairly uncommon.Avoid any unnecessary worries.

Do keep us posted.

Thanks for your insight and calming words.  I had a head CT done (I know it's not as good as an MRI - that will be the next step, if necessary), and thankfully no large tumors or other abnormalities were shown.  My PCP is treating me as if the headaches are sinus related and we are hoping that will resolve things over the next few weeks.  If we rule out sinus headaches, the next step will be a neurologist, but I am less worried that there is something life-threatening at play.  Now I just need to find the best treatment plan.  Still aggravating!

While my headaches/dizziness continues, I have just noticed that my right eyelid is dropping and this is making me think it's a tumor again.  Could the CT have missed a small tumor that is causing these problem?  I'm starting to get very worried again.

Hi,

I understand your concern. At this point, I am not very worried for you given that the CT scan came out fine. With regards to your new symptom of a drooping eyelid, are there any other associated symptoms like facial asymmetry ( a lopsided smile) or a difficulty in raising the eyebrows or showing the teeth?Difficulty in doing these may suggest a possible peripheral facial nerve involvement .If there are no associated symptoms then ,this may be something that you may try to observe further.

Have you informed your PCP about this? I suggest that you inform your doctor about this so he may have you assessed earlier . A neurologic consult is best so that other underlying disorders like a possible peripheral nerve involvement may be ruled out. However, do calm down and continue to note your symptoms.

How are your headaches now given that you are given medications. Are they better?

Keep us posted regarding doctor's advice.
