?Bulging disc

I was treated for carpal tunnel syndrome with Celestone inj. to each wrist approx. 3 1/2 weeks ago. I had classic carpal tunnel sx. Now I am experiencing numbness, tingling mostly rt arm, shoulder, face and lips, headaches. Worse at night and am or after working on computer. Sx that were in both arms are now more in scapula (rt) and post neck, face reg. My question is do I need to see hand surg. again or have MRI or Neurosurgeon? If it is a bulging disc in neck (which I think it is) will it subside on its on or do I need tx. to prevent perm. damage? Thanks.

How are you? If other symptoms like headache and tingling also occurs in areas such as your face and lips, it is best that you have this checked by your doctor or be referred to a neurologist for proper evaluation. Complete physical and neurological examiantion is important and diagnostic tests such as MRI will help reach a definite diagnosis. A bulging disk is not a problem unless it begins to cause pain, becomes herniated or ruptures. A nerve in the neck may be pinched or pushed upon and can cause pain that radiates to the shoulders and arms. Treatment  such as rest, combination of heat and ice therapy and anti-inflammatory medications or cortisone injections may be done. However, surgery may also be indicated depending on the extent and nature of the condition. Take care and do keep us posted.
