Can these be prevented

Can these be prevented

I have seen 2 neurologists, 1 local and 1 at the Houston Diagnostic Clinic. I had MRIs With and without contrast of the brain, the entire spine, the abdomen. I get the usual migraines 2-3 times a month and they last 1-2 days. They do not effect my work. For the past 4 years I have experienced atypical migtaines with the following symptoms: abdominal pain and my stomach feels very "empty", chest pain and difficulty breathing. burning sensation in my upper back and down both arms to the elbows, weakness in the muscles of both legs. mild to moderate headache. These symptoms are bad enough to keep me from working. They are preceded by visual abnormalities like loss of perifereal vision which only lasts 5-10 minutes. The main symptoms can last any where from 1 week to as long as 2 months. The only relief I find is when I take diazepam 10mg 2 tabs q.i.d. My primary care Dr. started me om 1 tab 2x daily and increased gradually until we got to a point where the medicine helped control the symptoms. I know that this is a lot of meds, but it is the only level that helps. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hello dear,
You should not take stress and do not be anxious.
You  can try some easy remedies at home like;

- Reduce stress
- Practice Aerobic exercises
- Develop a regular sleep pattern

You should avoid diet drinks, tobacco, caffeine, take plenty of water to ensure the blood pressure does not drop due to exercise, high stress activities and hot climate.
Neck exercises and yoga will help you. You can take some NSAID for the pain. You should get your blood pressure levels monitored.
Treatment includes- Ibuprofen- First-line treatment for mild to moderately severe migraine events.
• Aspirin - Treats mild to moderately severe pain and headache
• Dihydroergotamine - Alpha-adrenergic blocking agent with direct stimulating effect on smooth muscle of peripheral and cranial blood vessels, depresses central vasomotor centers.

Hi,

Magnesium supplements work very well in preventing migraine attacks. I would advise you to start with the supplements and see if they make you feel better.

You can also try biofeedback therapy which has shown good results. These are alternate treatment options for migraine. Take care!

You have a lot of symptoms, which can all be prevented with this pranayam techniques.Start today and continue twice a day at the maximum timing for 4 months and then continue once a day after you are better.Report back your progress so others may benefit.
Build up your timing gradually. If you feel tired or dizzy, stop and resume after 1 minute.
Kapalbhati -(Do it before eating) Push air forcefully out through the nose about once per second. Stomach will itself go in(contract in). The breathing in(through the nose) will happen automatically. Establish a rhythm and do for upto 15 minutes twice a day.(Max 60 min/day) Not for pregnant women. Seriously ill people do it gently.

Anulom Vilom -  Close your right nostril with thumb and deep breath-in through left nostril
then – close left nostril with two fingers and breath-out through right nostril
then -keeping the left nostril closed  deep breath-in through right nostril
then - close your right nostril with thumb and breath-out through left nostril.
This is one cycle of anulom vilom.
Repeat this cycle for 20 to 30  minutes twice a day(maximum 60 minutes in one day).
You can do this before breakfast/lunch/dinner or before bedtime or in bed.Remember to take deep breaths into the lungs.

Bhramri Pranayam -Close eyes. Close ears with thumb, index finger on forehead, and rest three fingers on base of nose touching eyes. Breathe in through nose. And now breathe out through nose while humming like a bee.
Duration : 5 to 15 times
