Changed headache pattern

I have always been prone to headaches, pre-menstrual migraine &  TMJ (disc displacement). Over the past few years I have developed tinnitus with some high frequency hearing loss. I've recently had several ocular migraines, no pain but my vision is so distorted I have to go to bed.  Now my headaches cause brow swelling and tenderness, even more painful is the pain, tightness and feeling of swelling at the top of my head. It is right where the fontanelle or soft spot in a baby would be. It feels like something is trying to bust out of a tennis ball size area off my skull. Along with the pressure, it is a pain very similar to the 'burners" one gets up the side of their head but large, constant and located in one area. Putting pressure on top of my head offers some relief,  but putting downward pressure on the top of your head with your hands for any length of time is tiring and impractical. Lol, I've often wished I could just strap a book to the top of my head. Has anyone had this type of head pain? Could it be muscular? I took a Skelaxin an hour ago and it didn't help. Also my tinnitis is much more prominent with these headaches. Any input is appreciated! Thanks!

Sorry to hear about your pain.  I know this will sound a bit off the wall, but the symptoms you describe about having forehead and top of head pain could be from sinusitis.

Also my ENT doctor told me that tinnitus was just a symptom of aging in my case.  And the loss of hearing the high frequencies is from normal aging hearing loss and from getting too much noise in your past.  On the other hand, the loss of the low frequencies (in my case) point to abnormal hearing loss.

I've never heard of anyone experiencing worse tinnitus from migraines, but others can respond.  Or it may be the stress of the migraines which make the tinnitus worse.

I would be really interested in what other tests you have had that gave you no answers.  But the fibromyaliga diagnosis is based on no other medical  explanation for all over body pain.  Which I also have, in addition to daily migraines and a ton of other medical problems--some may be related to the fibromyalgia.

I think that you definately need to see a doctor about your head pain.

Take care and good luck.

What kind of specialist  deals with Ehler's Danlos or Hypermobility Syndrome? Would it be a Rheumatologist?

Has anyone looked to make sure that you do not have endometrosis, the first symptoms I notice when my endo is worse my migraines return with a vengeance. Also gluten (wheat, barley, and rye) can cause horrible migraines and fibro.

I hope you get some answers it is very frustrating when doctors do not listen,

I've not had an MRI, it seems I've had SO many expensive tests over the years that I hate the thought of having more and STILL having no answers. I am thinking of seeing a rheumatologist to rule out hypermobility syndrome for my fibro and my teenagers similar symptoms. I'm not feeling my top of head pain is related unless it's some weird muscle spasms, lol, or I'm literally blowing my top out of frustration with the medical field.
I'd dearly love to find a Dr. that will look at ALL of my symptoms and how they relate to me as a whole person instead of piecing me out to half a dozen specialists. I don't think that type of doctor exists anymore...

Hi...just wondering if u were to a NL for testing to see what was going on...did u have ne MRI's?

The TMJ, were u checked to see if it is related to a condition called Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome....u can have HA's with the condition and it would explain the TMJD issue.
