I am 20 years old, and have been experiencing a throbbing, dull sensation on the left side of my head for several weeks now - it comes and goes from a few seconds to a minute every day, many times a day. It is always in the same location - in the back of my head, or near the front behind my eye.
The pain feels like a rush of blood to the head sometimes, and I noticed that I had this feeling for about a year now but occurred on a much less frequent basis - perhaps two or three times a week. It is only very recently that the symptoms have increased in frequency.
I saw a doctor two weeks ago about this, and she had said it was possibly related to my current prescription of the Pill and that the oestrogen is causing my headaches. She suggested that I take the mini-pill instead as there is no oestrogen.
I was just wondering if this diagnosis is accurate, or should I go to another doctor for a second opinion/get a MRI or brain scan? I was reading online about occiptal neuralgia and this seemed like a possibility to me.
Hi...how new to taking this oral contraceptive r u?...we all tolerate meds differently and it is possible that this is a reaction for u....
Also look to family history, if there is none to suggest a brain issue, u may want to try changing ur med to see if it helps, if not, then go the rt of the MRI.
