My doctor does not use Effexor in his practice, so it doesn't give me much to ask him unfortunately. I have the feeling that it is a quite new and rare treatment option.
Again, I seriously recommend you talk to your doctor...even side effects vary from person to person.
Thanks for sharing.
Can you tell more about the side effects and withdrawal symptoms? What did you experience?
But remember each person is different and different drugs work for different people. It is really something to talk to your doctor about. Treating migraines is a marathon, not a sprint. It can take time to find what drugs work and what COMBOs of drugs that work. And even then if you are on them for a long period they can stop working as your tolerance builds up so, things have to be changed around. You really need to be under a doctor's supervision.
I have been on Effexor for anxiety and depression, but during all the years I took it I still got migraines which I have had all my adult life. I am 74 now.
I would not recommend Effexor for migraine prevention. Also it is a terrible anti depressant to withdraw from, with awful withdrawal symptoms.
If there is a better pill to prevent migraines then take it, not Effexor. My advice if you have not got depression and anxiety don't take Effexor. It did not stop my migraines.
What meds are you on now? Are they working?
