Head Splitting in Half

I am a happily married 27 year old mother of one who had a very scary thing happen yesterday. I was coming back to work from my lunch break, and I was driving. All of a sudden out of no where I had a splitting headache, and I mean splitting! It felt as though my head were about to split in two right down the center of my face. I began to overheat and my face and head were very hot to the touch. I was in so much pain I thought I was about to vomit. Luckily, I was a block away from my office when this occured and I quickly parked and leaned over in my seat to try to assess my apin enough to get out of the car. I managed to maske my way inside and quickly took some Aleve at my desk but was still in agony for about one hour. Then *poof* gone. I had very severe migraines the year follwoing giving birth but they have become few and far between - but this type of headache has taken it's place, only never as brutal. It seems to becoming increasingly worse and more often. It began behind my eyes previous and then would spread up my face..but never as terrible of pain. Any ideas what is going on?

Thank you for your response! I did have another one yesterday at about the exact same time as the previous day. I will make an appointment with my physician ASAP. Thanks!

Hi

How are you? It is not possible to say as to what is the exact cause for your headaches but it might be due to cluster headache. It appears in groups lasting for a few weeks or months at a stretch, which has pain free period in between. Cluster headaches are often described as the worst pain experienced by the patients. It may even cause some persons to fall on the floor, pull at their hair, bang their heads on the wall and scream.  The pain generally begins as a severe burning sensation on one side of the nose or deep in one eye, peaks rapidly. It usually affects only on one side of the face and completely resolves until next episode of headache. Each episode may last from 15 minutes to 3 hours. The pain typically occurs once or twice daily, but may occur several times in a day. Pain occurs at about the same time every day.

You should consult a doctor for proper diagnosis. Various tests such as blood tests, CT scan, MRI are usually necessary to establish a diagnosis of headaches.

Do let me know if you need any other information.
