Headaches that wont go away

i am 20 years old, and female, and i have been to my allergist, and they refered me to a neurologist... but i cant even get an appointment until mid. Jan. i have been having servere headaches daily, bad enough where i miss thing that i love doing... this has been going on for about 3 months, and before that i was having mild headaches daily.. but not this bad! recently with in the last month when ever i sit on lay down and then i stand up my feet and calves get this like tingling and for like 20 or 30 sec. i feel like someone is sticking pins and needles in my feet and legs.  i have also been super tired, like i could sleep all day and still not have energy to do anything! any ideas of what could be causing this? and is it something serious that i should try and get an appointment with another doctor sooner!?

Hi,
How are you? Was there a previous injury or trauma to your head or neck? This could be caused by primary headaches such as migraine, tension or cluster headaches. However, problems with your eyes and sinuses should also be considered. It would help if you can identify the possible headache triggers so you can avoid them in the future. Abortive medicine for your headache may also be used to prevent a full blown attack. If the pain persists and if over-the-counter pain medications and cold compress do not help, you may need to have this evaluated sooner. Prescription medication such as triptans and ergots are also effective in stopping migraine attacks. Talk to your doctor about this and determine which is best for you.  Take care and best regards.

Hi,
Good to hear from you again. It is good that there was no head trauma recently. This may rule out secondary headaches which are more serious in nature. A headache diary may help identify the triggers. I believe there is a headache tracker program here in medhelp that may help. What you can do is to write activities, sleep deprivation, food, etc that you do before your headache occurs and see if these are consistent in triggering your headaches. This is one way of preventing future recurrences. Do keep us posted if you see your eye doctor. Take care and have a Merry Christmas!
