Help find treatment cause of migraines & rapid weight gain!

23 yr old daughter w/Schmidt's Syndrome (Addison's & Hypothyroidism)  experiencing 3-4 severe migraines per week for past yr + 85 lb weight gain in same period (2-3#/wk w/o change in diet/exercise). Also has developed high BP & often rapid heart beat. Just stopped her Yazmin rx 3-mos ago, if that's important. Our new med group docs (the big "K") continue to add more Rx (now 10/daily) and 2x/week 4mg Dilaudid shots, w/o remedy! Anyone know of endocrine of migraine specialist/clinic, OR how to find if the "multiple" med are interfering with each other or with the meds for her Schmidt's conditions?

I'm not a doctor, but I also have low thyroid and low cortisol, plus a real problem with migraine for many years now.  My opinion is that your daughter needs to go to a really good well known clinic instead of local doctors.  Clinics such as Mayo, Cleveland Clinic, Duke University, etc., just as an example.  There are such really great clinics all over the country.  They handle the toughest cases and are much more likely to do a really good job of figuring out complex health problems than local docs.

Your daughter may be holding water, but also she may be eating a lot more calories than you know about.   I really believe in big well known clinics because they get tough cases from all over.  Maybe you can find one that has a good neurology department.  I know it's expensive, I've had to go to Cleveland Clinic myself.

I did find a really good local endocrinologist, a doctor that handles hormones.  I'm just now going to him for low cortisol, weakness, and all the other problems of low cortisol.  Have no treatment yet as I don't see him again till next month after test results are in.
If I had trouble with his treatment regime though, I'd go straight to my local large clinic, Cleveland Clinic.
If your daughter is having trouble with treatment you're receiving locally, I would think you need a second opinion on that treatment regime.

As for migraine, I have 15 years of experience with it.  I get daily migraine after a really bad one.  Meaning that I can't seem to avoid a migraine no matter what I do.  Have found that low blood pressure after a meal causes me to get a headache, so I lie down after eating.  That when my head gets too cold or hot I get a headache so I keep warm, but not cold.

Something that would have helped a lot a long time ago if I had known it, is that I get vascular spasm migraine as well as dilated migraine.  If a person gets a spasm in the arteries and takes imitrex or such medication, it will make the headache really, really bad because it tightens already tight arteries.  It's very hard to tell the two headaches apart as they feel very much the same.  I have a complex way to do it.

If you want to contact me about migraine, I would be happy to talk to you.  I pray that your daughter gets better soon.
