Instant Headache

My husband for the past 6 days will get an instant headache that is incapacitating he doesn't do anything before he gets it.  It just all of a sudden comes on and he can't do anything but hold his head.  It usually lasts for awhile.  Is this serious?

Hi,
How is your husband? Are there other symptoms present? If there was no history of head trauma and no activity prior to the attacks, you need to have this checked by your doctor for proper evaluation. Direct clinical examination, including neurological tests may help determine the underlying cause. Rest, ice pack and prescription may also help. Take care and regards.
