Is regular use of Advil for headaches dangerous?

Is there any serious risk in using Advil 3-4 times per week (average) for headaches? I usually take two of the 200 mg tablets. I use this dosage only once per day when the headaches occur. I've had experienced these headaches for the past 2.5- 3 months since getting off of Lexapro.

My Dr. gave me some samples of Maxalt (10mg) & Imitrex (100mg) but after reading the information inserts included with each drug describing the possible side effects of each of these I'm a bit concerened about taking them. My headaches are usually (not always) located on the left side of my head, above and behind my left eye. They do get severe at times, but after my nightmare experience with with Lexapro I'm a bit tentitive about putting meds in my body.

I'M CURRENTLY TAKING 1mg OF KLONOPIN DAILY AT BEDTIME to help with the withdrawal symptoms after getting off Lexapro 2.5 months ago.

Thanks for your help.

Hi,
If that is the case, it would be best to get a neurologist opinion about the diagnosis and a possible change in medication or doses.
A detailed clinical examination alongwith certain investigations if required by your neurologist would be helpful.
Do let us know about your progress.
Good luck.

Thank you for your response. I don't smoke and I haven't had any alcohol since April 2007. I didn't had a history of headaces until I got on and the got off of Lexapro. I was on Lexapro for three years. The headaches started the week I got on Lexapro. They became less frequent during the 3 years I was on Lexapro, but were always intense when they occurred. The headaches (among other side effects) were the reason I got off of Lexapro. I had headaches every day for the first 2 months I was off Lexapro. They are becoming less frequent, but they're still very intense at times.

Thanks again for your help.

Hi,
Advil or ibuprofen is a relatively safe drug except for some gastritis like effects so it should be avoided on an empty stomach and in patients with gastric ulcers.
What you can do is try and identify the triggers of your headaches and avoid them. they could be strong light, loud music, stress, certain foods etc.
You should also get adequate sleep. Avoid alcohol and smoking.
Consult your doctor for a complete check up reularly and also discuss your symptoms.
You should also consult your doctor about tapering off klonopin or clonazepam gradually.
Hope this helps.
Good luck.
